A Thought About Life Insurance From Bob

I’ve always been careful not to be a “pushy life insurance salesman,” and took pride in that until a heartbreaking event a couple years ago.

I traveled back to my hometown of Syracuse NY to attend the funeral of a good friend, who passed away suddenly.  We had grown up together, attended high school together, and pretty much kept in touch through the years.  His family grew as mine did, and he was successful at what he did.  He was a good man and will be missed by many.

At a quiet moment, his wife asked if her husband had ever purchased life insurance through me.  He hadn’t. In fact, over all the years, we had never discussed the matter.  I’ve always been careful not to be a “pushy life insurance salesman,” and in fact took pride in that.  But now, I’m ashamed that I never brought the subject up.

They’ve been helping with their 3 kids’ student loans, they have a mortgage, his widow only works part time.  Jim’s death changes all of that.
